Quartzite Bathroom | Remodel

A main-floor bathroom redesigned for function, warmth, and personality.

In our 1923 Portland home, the single main-floor bathroom was doing triple duty as primary bath, guest bath, and work-from-home bathroom. It looked fine. But it was cold, and it wasn't us.

The redesign was anchored by a Miro Fantasy quartzite countertop, shower bench, and ledges. The stone, with its brown, orange, pink, and taupe shades that shift with the light, set the for everything else. Warm walnut, aged brass, and large format honed porcelain kept the palette calm so the quartzite could shine.

The details are what make it ours. Frank Lloyd Wright inspired the tension between geometric and organic that runs through the space. The rest came from vintage shops, local artists, and pieces that couldn't have come from a catalog.

It's still a small bathroom doing a lot of work. But now we actually want to be in it.
